Passengers should expect delays
Departing and arriving passengers should expect delays
Your airport experience will be different than trips prior to the pandemic. Due to new government travel requirements that prioritize your health, you may experience additional screening, health checks, and delays. To help you better understand the processes, please see below:
For your safety, masks are mandatory for all passengers and airport employees in all terminal spaces. Moreover, terminal access is restricted to passengers with a boarding pass or itinerary for same day travel and airport employees only.
For departing domestic passengers, we ask that you arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes in advance of your flight. For departing international passengers, please arrive at least 3 hours in advance.
To make your experience easier, you can check-in online from home to speed the process, then use one of our touchless kiosks in the check-in lobby if you have bags to drop-off. At the time of check-in, you should be prepared for extra questions and document requirements from your airline. Be sure to confirm with your airline what the specific requirements are for your destination.
To prepare for your departure from Toronto Pearson, you can:
The arrivals process could take three hours or longer depending on your specific set of circumstances.
If a flight arrives during peak times, passengers may be asked to deplane from the aircraft to an area within the terminal. To prioritize your health, passengers will be required to wait for space to become available in the customs hall, where processing begins. Connecting passengers should plan their onward flight accordingly as additional screening and health checks will add time to the arrivals process.
Once in the customs hall, you will be screened by a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer, where you will present your documents and show your ArriveCAN app submission. You may be referred to the Public Health Agency of Canada to answer additional questions.
The next step in the process is to collect your luggage.
Fully vaccinated travellers will not need an arrival test unless they have been randomly selected. Unvaccinated travellers require mandatory testing upon arrival.
